10 Fun Activities to Do With Your Partner When You’ve Run Out of Ideas

Been together a while and feeling like you’ve done it all? Same restaurants, same Netflix queue, same weekend routine. It happens to every couple — but it doesn’t have to stay that way.

Some couples have taken up baking, others are rediscovering music, while a few are learning something completely new together. The point is: there’s always something worth trying — you just need a little inspiration.

If you’re in a relationship rut and looking for fun, meaningful, or just plain different things to do with your partner, here are 10 ideas to shake things up:

1. Create your own At-Home Spa

Do you long for hands to knead into your back muscles and melt the stress away? If your partner has hands, why not ask them to help? You may already give each other casual massages, but you can make it a full event by creating a true spa-like vibe.

Put on soothing music, light some candles, and change the lighting. Then take turns giving back massages, neck massages, foot massages — the works. Use oil or lotion to take it up a notch. And most importantly, lower your expectations and just enjoy making each other feel good. It’s the thought that counts!

2. Role Play “Going Out”

Turn a regular night in into something more exciting with a little imaginative play. Someone plays the bartender, the other plays a stranger at the bar (or pick literally any scenario that sounds fun). You love your partner, but it’s also nice to mix it up with other people. Plan a double date with another couple: go out, cook together at someone’s place, or even do it over video call. Come in with a shared intention and maybe a set end time so it doesn’t get awkward. It tends to spark new conversations and bring a fresh energy to your relationship, too.
